Black boys are disproportionately represented in special education classrooms across the United States. This is a serious problem that has a devastating impact on their lives. • Challenge bias in the assessment process. We need to work to change the way that Black boys are assessed for disabilities. We need to make sure that they are not being diagnosed with disabilities when they do not meet the diagnostic criteria. We also need to make sure that the professionals who are conducting the assessments are not biased against Black boys.
• Create more opportunities for Black boys to succeed. We need to create more opportunities for Black boys to succeed in school and in life. We need to make sure that they have access to high-quality education, mentorship programs, and other resources that can help them reach their full potential.

We all have a role to play in addressing the overrepresentation of Black boys in special education. By working together, we can make a difference.
