Early Life and Education
Latricia Nelson was born in 1929 in Boston, Massachusetts. She grew up in a family that valued education and community involvement. Her parents, Otis and Willie Nelson, were both active in the civil rights movement. Latricia attended Boston Latin School and went on to earn a degree in education from Boston University.
Teaching Career
After graduating from college, Latricia began her teaching career in the Boston Public Schools. She was passionate about teaching and believed that all students had the potential to succeed. She was also a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion in the classroom.
Political Career
In 1973, Latricia Nelson Easley was elected to the Brookline School Committee. She was the first African American woman to serve on the committee. Community Service
